Michigan vs Illinois 3rd Annual Tailgate Part 2008

First off some bad news to all my Michigan
friends…..As many of you may know,
Melissa and I have relocated to Tennessee
effective May of 2008….. The land
of the SEC….the land of the Volunteers….
the land of the Nashville Predators…

However, there are no worries about having
the Ultimate Tailgate Party this year. In fact,
I feel this year is even more important, as the
home games are going to be tougher to get
to for us…. And the ones that we do get to,
we want to have a large party….. and see all
of our friends.

Even though my home state requires that I
must cheer for the Volunteers, ( I believe it is
against State law to root for anyone else)…..
I will always be a fan of the Blue…..

Anyhow, last year, I had the bright idea to have the game verses a good team from the PAC-10. I figured, that seeing as Oregon was coming to town, it makes for a rare opportunity to see a great game, early in the season and at home…. That was before Michigan got blown out 39 to 7… Kind of kills the party mood after Michigan gets run over by the little ducks.

This year, I am thinking about having the ultimate tailgate party during the home game against Illinois. The date is October 4th…. At 3:30pm This is two fold, the Illinois game is homecoming this year, and second the Fighting Illinois are going to be very very good next year. The returning class for the Illini are threatening the Buckeyes for the “projected” big ten champion…. Projected… because we all know that Michigan will take it… and the national championship.

This year brings major change to the University of Michigan Football program.
First of all, the Lloyd Carr era is over after many years of winning and making the Michigan football program proud. This year marks the beginning of the Rich Rodriguez era, who runs a quick, exciting, college football spread based offense. Based on passes, trick plays, and the “thinking outside the box” offense, that Michigan football greatly needs. Anyone who watched the Capital One Bowl last year got a glimpse of what this team is capable of…. And against one of the best teams in the country, in their own back year…. The Florida Gators.

Second, the new Wolverines at quarterback, running back and wide receiver…. starting quarterback will be Michigan quarterback #10 Steven Threet…. A transfer from Georgia Tech with a cannon for an arm, but the big news is Sam Mcguffie at running back… a 4 star recruit that will be a great continuation of Michigan running backs throughout history…..

As always….Our primary tailgate location is on the U of M golf course off the entrance of State Street. This is the easiest location for entry and exit, and the lowest cost for golf course parking. Our plan is to usually get there in time to back our vehicles onto the fairway.

You can contact me at home, but the best way is by e-mail and let me know what you think.

Tickets are projected to go on sale July 20th, please go to www.mgoblue.com/tickets around that date. I hope to have leads on tickets, but please give some thought to getting tickets in your own.
I will send out an e-mail later in the summer to coordinate food, drinks, and times and so on….

Sorry Lee, the Ohio State Buckeyes, are still not allowed…… sooner or later the sweater vest will get what’s coming to him… probably this year…...Rich Rod is going to put the hammer down!!!!

Go Blue and Go Vols……..
